Franklin Food & Spirits Festival
Festival goers will celebrate (and sample) some of the area's finest offerings, from slow-smoked barbecue to flash-fried pies. Events begin on Friday with a whole hog barbecue at historic Carnton Mansion. Guests are invited to not only eat, but to visit throughout the day's cooking and learn about the whole hog tradition. Pitmasters Patrick Martin, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Ed Mitchell, of Raleigh, North Carolina, will share secrets of the smoke. At the evening's dinner, guest chefs Sean Brock and John Fleer will team with local talents Jason McConnell, Martha Stamps, and Tandy Wilson to offer piggy snacks.
