“The Marvelous Wonderettes” Set to Take the Stage at Cumberland County Playhouse

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – Fans of The Taffetas and Forever Plaid can rejoice as the off-Broadway smash hit, “The Marvelous Wonderettes” come to the stage March 30-May 26 at the Cumberland County Playhouse.

“The Marvelous Wonderettes” takes a cotton candy-colored musical trip down memory lane to the 1958 Springfield High School prom with the Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their bouffant hair and personalities as bright as their crinoline skirts.

Meet Betty Jean (Jess Griffin, Sister Act), Cindy Lou (Playhouse newcomer Heather McCall), Missy (Hannah Hays, A Christmas Story), and Suzy (DeAnna Etchison, The Drowsy Chaperone), and experience their lives and loves from prom night to their 10-year reunion. The girls perform classic ‘50s and ‘60s songs like “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Mister Sandman,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” “It’s My Party,” and more than 20 other chart-topping hits of the era.

Created, written, and originally directed by Roger Bean, the original New York production played at the West Side Theatre from September 2008 to January 2010.
