Nashville Zoo Hits Daily Attendance Record of More Than 18,000 Guests

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Zoo exceeded its daily attendance record by welcoming 18,019 guests on Saturday, March 31. The zoo crushed its previous paid daily attendance record of 14,654 that was set last Eggstravaganzoo day on April 15, 2017.  The attendance for March 31 also beat the zoo’s overall daily attendance record of 15,089, which was set on a free admission day in February 2005.

Eggstravaganzoo is an event that includes more than five egg hunts for various age groups, as well as carnival-style games, bounce houses and multiple food vendors. This event is included with zoo admission or membership. Expedition Peru: Trek of the Andean Bear opened on March 15 and generated a tremendous amount of excitement in the community, which helped to push Saturday’s attendance past the previous record. The zoo has seen higher attendance than expected with the opening of the new bear exhibit.

The zoo is finishing up the expanded parking lot construction, so it will be able to welcome larger crowds in the future. Workers are focusing on completing the renovation of the Sumatran tiger exhibit, which is expected to open Summer 2018. With the addition of tigers, the zoo expects a strong attendance through the rest of the year with an annual record of more than 1 million visitors.
